I thought about off brands which are half the price, but you lose the OSS and it's not as fast and bright. It is pretty pricey, specially comparing it to the 50mm f1.8 prime (which is just as amazing) but as I understand it, the 35mm is more complex with more glass elements which is harder to make etc. ![]() Very sharp as well, great color rendition and looks and feels great - doesn't matter parts of it are plastic, it's good quality. With the money you save from buying this over the 24/1.8, you can go buy another lens for your set. So you can use lower ISO numbers indoors, compared to the 24/1.8. You can get sharp shots at 1/15s shutter speed and have a decent chance at 1/5s. At 1.8 it's a little softer but once you stop down, it gets very sharp The biggest thing I like about this lens, over the Zeiss 24/1.8, is it has optical stabilization. look at the two pictures I attached, the 35mm 1.8 is capable of some very nice details. I wasn't expecting much from the 35/1.8 (especially since it was a pure sony design) I was blown away by how wrong I was. I played around with other M-mount lenses but missed having AF. About a month ago, I bought a M-Mount Zeiss lens and realized the 24/1.8 didn't seem like it was worth the money anymore. I liked it a lot but always wondered if it really was worth $1100. Previously I was using the Sony Zeiss 24/1.8 as my main lens on the NEX-5N. ![]()
